About the Hackathon

IIM Ahmedabad’s Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) is delighted to present Financial Services Hackathon, 2015 in partnership with India Infoline Limited (IIFL). The Hackathon will aid in industry innovation by fostering next generation of India’s entrepreneurs in the financial services sector. The Hackathon will focus on addressing the challenges involved with quality and access of financial services in areas such as safe savings, insurance cover, investments, entrepreneurial loans, payments, settlement facility, access to e-commerce transactions and to formal financial system.

Problem statements

Applicants are invited to provide innovative solutions to solve one of the following problems:

  • Need for payment solutions that allow online and offline transactions to make payment processes simpler and beneficial leading to greater inclusion.
  • A solution for alternative lending/credit scoring that will enable financial institutions and formal banking channels to reach a wide range of people and enterprises and provide access to credit & financial products.
  • Innovative insurance solutions for 'bottom-of-pyramid' to reduce life-cycle risk, buttress increase in risk appetite and enterprising ability.

Who can Apply

  • Individuals and teams who are passionate about revolutionizing the way financial services function in India through disruptive innovation
  • Applicants should preferably have an experience of 2+ years in the financial services domain

What do We Offer

  • An opportunity to showcase your solution to CIIE, India’s leading business incubator and IIFL, an industry front-runner in financial services
  • Extensive mentoring and capacity building to validate and streamline your idea
  • A maximum of 10 most promising ideas will pitch to a panel of experts (Elevator Pitch) with an opportunity to strengthen their network and industry exposure
  • The jury of experts will use their industry experience and judgement to select a maximum of 3 ideas which will receive a product development grant of INR 5 Lac over a period of one year
